The UCI-4100DM is a portable, motorized dual-mode hardness tester that combines ultrasonic contact impedance (UCI) and dynamic rebound (Leeb) in one device.
That pairing solves a common problem: Leeb can't assess plating and coating hardness well (UCI's strength), and UCI struggles with coarse crystal materials in casting (Leeb's strength). Because the UCI-4100DM works with both UCI motorized probes and Leeb impact probes, it handles fine or coarse crystal structures across the metal industry.
The UCI probe system is well suited to measuring coatings and platings - chrome, copper plating, carburized layers, and nitriding layers included. The Leeb probe system handles coarse materials like castings and forgings.
As a non-destructive testing (NDT) hardness tester, it's especially useful for finished products - molds, gears, shafts, rods, screws, rails - since the contact indentation is small enough to go unnoticed, making it a solid pick for accurate hardness testing across industrial applications.
